These are very likely my final predictions.

    Frontrunners

    A Star Is Born
    Roma

    Next in line

    The Favourite
    BlacKkKlansman
    Green Book

    Also likely to be nominated

    Black Panther
    Bohemian Rhapsody
    Vice

    On the brink

    If Beale Street Could Talk
    A Quiet Place

    Possibilities

    First Reformed
    Mary Poppins Returns
    Crazy Rich Asians
    First Man
    Can You Ever Forgive Me?
    Eighth Grade

    Possible but unlikely

    Leave No Trace
    Widows
    Hereditary

    Theoretical possibilities

    Mary Queen of Scots
    Private Life
    Destroyer
    Ben Is Back
    The Rider
    A Private War
    The Ballad of Buster Scruggs
    The Hate U Give
    Boy Erased
    Beautiful Boy

I’m predicting Roma to deservingly win this and benefit from the passion, political and preferential vote. The biggest problem aside from the language barrier is that it may be too highbrow to win and they might go with a more populist choice. Still, I’m predicting it to prevail, which will make it one of the best winners of the century

As for the ratings, no one cares at this point. Award shows ratings have been decreasing for years now and they’ll keep doing so. Everyone was supposedly perched to witness the ASIB triumph at the Globes yet the ratings tanked

Unless more scandals keep popping up, I think Green Book can win this. I don’t understand why, but this is a movie that a lot of people seem to really love.

My top 3 to win are that, A Star Is Born, and Roma.

Since the CC have been out, all the best picture winners have won something there. Blackkklansman and Bohemian Rhapsody got 0 awards there, which would suggest they’re done.

    Current BP Predictions:

    Araby
    Claire’s Camera
    The Day After
    First Reformed
    Happy as Lazzaro
    Let the Sunshine In
    Lover for a Day
The Other Side of the Wind
    Western
    Zama

The Academy will shock us all on nominations morning by throwing out almost all the precursor for actual quality choices, heralding a new direction for the Oscars wherein members vote for what is actually the best of the year.

    Or they won’t.

Just cause you dislike something doesn´t mean it has no quality.

I don’t see a foreign language film winning this. Maybe best director but definitely not best picture.

Green Book, A Star is Born and Blakkklansman are the front runners here. I think Green Book will win.

FYC Emily Blunt (Mary Poppins Returns) and Lady Gaga (A Star is Born) for best actress

If Amour of all movies couldn’t get close, Roma isn’t going to win (not with the racism factor added onto the language barrier).

The thing is, I do not see Roma taking Foreign Language Film AND Best Picture. Why both? I think it easily takes FLF, and BP goes to ASIB.

Roma has a bigger problem than a simple backlash and is the silent rejection of Netflix. people like Steven Spielberg or Bill Mechanic has been very vocal against the idea of a Netflix film getting Oscars but in the past few months these people has keep a low profile. This silent means that now Netflix is now accepted for the film purist?…. I don’t think so, if Netflix would be pushing Martin Scorsese next film “The Irishman” it would be too easy for those trying to keep cinema alive to just reject Scorsese like they has done to many times before but in the age of the “Woke” mentality a direct attack on Roma would be meet with accusations of racism and xenophobia.

Roma has a very strong advantage this year and is that it is the only movie that can be call an artistic achievement among those in the race for Best Picture, another advantage is having a beloved Director who has made a name in the industry. The PGA will be very telling, if Roma wins there then nothing can’t stop it, losing the PGA would be a red flag meaning that the industry still don’t accept Netflix.

For me only Roma and The Favourite are worthy of winning Best Picture but The Favourite is not happening. Roma is lucky to have such a weak and mediocre field to compete for the top prize at the Oscar.
