Carl Grimes may be gone, but he won’t be forgotten. In our recent “The Walking Dead” poll that asked fans whether they’ll miss Chandler Riggs‘ teenage zombie fighter, a whopping 53% voted that they “miss him already.” Conversely, 34% of haters said that they’re “glad he’s gone” — talk about hitting a man while he’s down! The other 13% of voters are waiting to see “how things play out” as Season 8 continues to air on AMC. Will YOU miss Carl on “The Walking Dead”? Sound off down in the comments section.
In last week’s mid-season premiere, titled “Honor,” Carl spent his last day on earth remaining hopeful after being bitten in the torso by a walker. As the zombie infection began spreading throughout his entire body, Carl gave tearful goodbyes to his father Rick (Andrew Lincoln), best friend Michonne (Danai Gurira), longtime ally Daryl (Norman Reedus) and kid sister Judith. Carl then shot himself in the head to prevent himself from turning into a walker.
For eight seasons Carl has represented lightness and hope on TV’s top-rated apocalypse drama, so how will his death affect “The Walking Dead” going forward? Based on our poll results, most fans appear to be dreading a post-Carl world. In his absence, might another character take on Carl’s plight of being the optimist of the group? Could it be Rick? What about Michonne? Maybe new addition Saddiq, who Carl was trying to save when he got bit?
Find out how the rest of the characters react to Carl’s death when “The Walking Dead” airs Season 8, Episode 10 on Sunday, March 4. The episode is titled “The Lost and the Plunderers” and receives this description from AMC: “Groups unite their forces and converge on the Hilltop. Meanwhile, Aaron and Enid search for allies. Simon takes matters into his own hands.”
